I-96 Bridge over Latson Road

Project Description

This project was a proposed interchange, which includes a bridge connecting Latson Road over I-96. The proposed bridge is 2-spans, each span is 181 ft with a total length of 362 ft. The superstructure consists of continuous 72 in. deep steel plate girders with a concrete deck. The structure accommodates 5 lanes (1 left-hand turn lane and 4 thru lanes) and a 14 ft wide shared use path. Aesthetic treatments were incorporated on the substructures and bridge railings. Design of the deep steel girders was completed with finite element analysis to eliminate over stressing during the construction staging. This project also included context sensitive solutions including coordination with Genoa Township and Livingston County.
